A Cupcake Christmas Tree Perfect for the Kitchen

In my book, there are few desserts cuter than cupcakes. With sprinkles and a cherry on top, these little cupcake Christmas tree ornaments are too sweet to resist (literally I wish they were real so I could eat them). The themed Christmas tree trend is undeniably here to stay, and in my opinion, the more Christmas trees in your home, the better. I feel like cupcakes are a random theme for the main Christmas tree (but if you’re into that, go for it) so a mini tree in the kitchen is the perfect spot to decorate with these irresistible cupcake ornaments.

My kitchen at home back in NY is grey and black with pops of red, so these cupcake ornaments match perfectly. With a little digging, you can find cupcake ornaments in a ton of different colors to match your kitchen or what ever room you want to decorate a mini tree for. Or you can use a mix of brightly colored cupcakes and go CandyLand style! We found the majority of these ornaments and decor pieces at Big Lots and Jo-Anne Fabrics.

Creating a themed mini tree is your opportunity to go all out and do something different! Always wanted a purple princess tree? Go for it! With a small tree, there is little commitment and in most cases, mini trees always turn out cute because duh, they’re mini. To compliment your kitchen cupcake Christmas tree, you can incorporate fun specialty lights (like these poinsettia lights) since it’s a small tree and you won’t need a ton. Use fun garland like pearls and matching patterned ribbon, add a few complimentary ornaments, and have fun with it!

If you’re placing your mini cupcake Christmas tree on a dining table or breakfast bar, try switching up the place settings for a more festive look. A few special chargers, plates or glasses won’t break the bank, and it will make your tree look all the more special around the holidays. There are also a ton of festive napkins and napkin rings out there to complete the look. Remember, this tree is a statement piece in your kitchen – just like a fun necklace is to an outfit – so the more creative, the better!
