Changes are good, so are pumpkin beers.

So I cannot believe that just like that, it’s Fall. It may still be 90 degrees in Florida, but I am STILL pumped for flannels, pumpkin spice everything and all of the basic betch fall things. I literally am drinking a pumpkin beer as I write this post. YUP, no shame. Before we know it, 2017 will be over and we’ll all be confused as to where it went. I thought this would be a good time to regroup and refocus on my goals for the blog (and life in general, but I’ll get to that later).

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.

I always feel that Fall is the perfect time to revisit goals, passions and habits (both good and bad). So many things change from year to year, and making a “new years resolution” has never been my thing. Making a resolution during the holidays feels way too rushed for me, and who knows what a new year will even bring? In the Fall, I can better assess what has happened thus far in the year and make a plan for how I’d like to finish it out. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, as there have been a lot of things changing, and I felt like it was a good time to put it into words.
When I started Sunkissed in December about 9 months ago, I had a lot of high expectations and goals in mind for how I wanted this blog to turn out. Have I reached those goals? Sort of. Have I been let down, frustrated and discouraged? Definitely. But have I learned a TON in the process? Absolutely! Blogging is hard work, ya’ll. From creating content to editing photos to actually setting up a blog post to be published, it’s all a huge time commitment. That being said, I still LOVE doing it and get pretty bummed out when I don’t find the time for it. This year has been a whirlwind of job changes, moving apartments (twice), and social calendar overload – all of which I was never expecting. Now that I’ve got a new job moving into marketing/advertising sales and away from actually doing marketing, I truly think I’ll have a little more creative juice for the blog and I’m hoping for less content creation burnout.
Blogging is totally a learning process, and I’ve been so obsessed with trying to find my “niche” that I started to forget why I started this blog to begin with. When I talked with my friends about starting this blog last year, everyone agreed that my lifestyle hacks (particularly organizing, planning events, and just the way I live life in general) would provide some pretty solid content. However, I found it hard to put my blog’s purpose into words. One of my best friends said, “You live your life trying to get the best out of every day.” TRUE. I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself, I aspire to live the most badass/fun/exciting/energetic life possible, and this is exactly what I wanted (and still want) my blog to be about. I want to inspire readers and teach them how to make the best of life, whether it’s finding the best local breweries, exploring your city and finding what inspires you, organizing your life in a way that makes it most efficient and enjoyable, etc. I named my blog Sunkissed in December for a reason, and that reason was to find the sun even when life is throwing you the worst kind of winter days. Get it?
So what can you expect from Sunkissed in December in the upcoming months?

  • First and foremost, I’m making it my goal to post more regularly. That means EVERY week, on Monday morning. I’ve tried a few different “posting” days, and I think Monday is the most effective for both my personal timeline and for readers because Mondays suck, but reading blogs doesn’t. I’m also going to focus more on my Instagram game, because more blog posts means more content, so make sure to follow me @sunkissedindecember to keep up!
  • I realize that most of my readers aren’t in the Tampa Bay area, but I know ya’ll still love good craft beer and breweries. So I’ll be continuing with my series, The Brew Review, once monthly. This is one of my favorite things to write about because I truly do enjoy checking out new breweries and tasting different beers, so I’m sticking with it!
  • Like I said, one of the hardest parts of this blog has been narrowing down my niche. I just love so many things, and I want to share them with everyone! So I’ve given up the niche idea, but I am making a conscious effort to make sure every post on here will provide you with useful information and inspiration to help you make your life totally badass. A few of my favorite things are traveling/exploring, crafty DIY endeavors, fitness/self care, cooking and trying new restaurants, life hacks/organization, the list goes on. You can expect a little bit of everything on the blog, and I would love to hear your feedback or post ideas!
  • Trust me, I’m by no means a “Fashion blogger,” but I have recently been trying to develop my personal style and brand. With all of my marketing experience, personal branding is just something I always have on my mind. I’ll be peppering in a few personal style posts to help you discover your own style, passions and preferences that combine to create your own personal “branded style.”

Okay, I think that’s enough commitment for now. But seriously, I truly feel sad that I’ve sort of neglected my blog love child and I’m excited to get back on board. If you have any post requests or ideas, I’d love to hear them in the comments below. Connect with me on Instagram and let’s be friends!
Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss all of the goodness. See ya back here next week!
